Spring into summer with ElderPride's Book Club Selections
I love a good book! I love being inspired, engaged, and even transformed by a good read. I also like talking about what I am reading and sharing favorite passages with friends. That is why I am so happy to announce ElderPride’s Book Club selections for May and June here at ElderPride.
We will begin our journey from Spring to Summer by reading Don Miguel Ruiz’s The Four Agreements. As many of you know, in The Four Agreements, Ruiz reveals the source of self-limiting beliefs that rob us of joy and create needless suffering. It’s an inspiring book with many great lessons for transcending times like these. As we transition out of the COVID-19 pandemic let us choose to be: Impeccable with our words; strive to not take anything personally; not make assumptions; and to always do our best.
In June we go deeper. Pema Chodron offers heartfelt advice for transcending difficult times in her brilliant book: When Things Fall Apart. She offers us sage advice when she reminds us: “Life is a good teacher and a good friend. Things are always in transition. If we could only realize it. Nothing ever sums itself up in the way that we like to dream about. The off-center, in-between state is an ideal situation, a situation in which we don’t get caught and we can open our hearts and minds beyond limit.” When Things Fall Apart, is the perfect read in this “in-between time”. We exit out of a shelter-in-place era into a new reality. In between what was our “normal” evolving into a yet-to-be defined new normal. Chodron offers us the insights to make this transition with grace and ease.
Join us each Friday in May as we read and discuss Don Miguel Ruiz’s The Four Agreements And beginning in June we will read and discuss Pema Chodron’s book: When Things Fall Apart. We encourage you to order both books today from your favorite book seller so that you will have them for session one on May 1st.
