You Are an Individualization of the Divine

Week Theme: Ch. 1 — Divine Identity from "This Thing Called You"

Today we step into the first great truth of This Thing Called You: You are not separate from the Divine—You are its individualized expression. Ernest Holmes opens the book with this declaration: “There is a place in you which is Divine. This place is perfect and complete.”

This is the foundation of everything we will explore over the next eight weeks.

Holmes does not ask us to earn our divinity. He does not require us to prove worthiness. He states plainly that the Infinite has already chosen to express Its life through us. “You are an individualization of the One Spirit,” he writes. This means that your existence is intentional, purposeful, and infused with spiritual power.

Yet many of us live lives burdened by doubt, fear, regret, and stories that were never ours to carry. We forget our true identity. This week is an invitation to come home to your Self—to remember the spiritual magnificence that has never left you, not for a moment.

Holmes teaches that “Life is God’s gift to you. The way you use it is your gift to God.”

What if we used this year to give a fuller gift than ever before? What if we allowed the Divine within us to rise, shine, and reveal itself through our choices, our creativity, our relationships, our work?

This first week’s journal prompts ask you to explore:

  • Who am I in Truth?

  • What qualities of the Divine seek expression through me?

  • What would my life look like if I truly believed I was one with God?

Holmes reminds us: “The door of your consciousness is open to the influx of the Divine.”

Not locked. Not hidden. Open.

Your work is simply to step through that door with willingness. To say yes to what Spirit knows about you.

This week, let this be your affirmation:

“Life in me is God expressing Itself, and I say yes to that expression.”
